Why We Love It:
Crandall’s penstemon is a rugged high-elevation native that thrives where many garden plants struggle. Its tidy evergreen mats of bright green foliage stay attractive year-round, while the vibrant tubular flowers provide months of color and pollinator activity in dry sunny landscapes. Tough, cold hardy, and perfectly adapted to rocky mountain conditions, it’s an excellent choice for alpine gardens, gravel plantings, and refined xeric landscapes.

Additional Info:
Adapted to elevations above 6,000 feet and especially well suited for western rock gardens and mountain climates. Requires excellent drainage and performs best in lean, gravelly soils with minimal supplemental water once established. Avoid heavy clay soils and overwatering, particularly during winter months. Exceptional for crevice gardens, alpine troughs, and exposed sunny sites.
