Why We Love It:
This Colorado-native penstemon combines soft silvery foliage with delicate lavender-blue blooms for a look that feels perfectly at home in western rock gardens and dry landscapes. The evergreen foliage provides year-round texture and contrast against stone and gravel, while the flowers bring pollinator activity and seasonal color without overwhelming the space. Tough, drought tolerant, and beautifully adapted to lean soils, it’s an excellent choice for refined water-wise plantings.

Additional Info:
Introduced in 2005, this hardy perennial thrives in sandy or loamy soils with excellent drainage and minimal irrigation once established. Avoid overly rich or heavily amended soils, which can shorten plant life. Deadheading during the first few years encourages stronger, more compact plants. Deer resistant and especially well adapted to higher elevations and dry western climates up to about 8,100 feet.
