Why We Love It:
‘Marian Sampson’ packs incredible color into a compact, rock-garden-sized plant. Its vivid red blooms seem to hover above the tidy evergreen foliage and quickly become a magnet for hummingbirds in spring. Native to California and naturally adapted to rocky, dry environments, it thrives in lean soils with very little water. The combination of bold flowers, evergreen texture, and compact growth makes it especially valuable for small gardens, crevice plantings, and containers where every plant needs to earn its space.
Additional Info:
A California native well suited to dry western gardens with excellent drainage. Deer and rabbit resistant with lightly fragrant foliage. Best grown in sandy, gravelly soils and should not be overwatered, particularly in winter. Though somewhat short-lived, plants bloom heavily and provide outstanding seasonal color in water-wise landscapes.
